Savannah's October 8 City Council agenda says construction is complete on 16 affordable apartments at 916 Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and schedules a vote on the property's transfer, purchase funding and operating structure. Council has not acted on this resolution.

Why it matters

The completed development would add 16 two-bedroom apartments with supportive services for households experiencing, exiting or at risk of homelessness. The City specifies initial rent of $1,400 a month, capped by federal fair-market rents, for households earning at or below 80% of area median income.

What to watch

Savannah City Council is scheduled to consider the transfer and funding resolution on October 8; the agenda recommends approval, but no Council decision is recorded yet.
