GDOT programs $46M for the Highlands/Benton widening

Georgia DOT moved the Highlands Boulevard and Benton Boulevard connector into its Construction Work Program, with $45.97 million programmed for construction in 2029. The plan would widen 2.1 miles from two lanes to four, add a raised median and widen the St. Augustine Creek bridge between Savannah and Port Wentworth. Right-of-way work is funded for 2026; construction remains at zero percent.

The connector links I-95’s Jimmy DeLoach Parkway interchange with Port Wentworth and a major freight route to the port.
